After the Second World War, various initiatives were taken to develop the Bommelerwaard. The region had fallen behind the rest of the Netherlands. In the fifties and sixties, almost the entire region was transformed during the land consolidation. Farming and horticultural businesses were modernized.
In 1954, father and mother De Groot-van Steenbruggen moved with their 4 daughters and 1 son from Hurwenen to the new land consolidation farm "Zonneveld" in Rossum. Son Johan marries Betsie in 1961 and together they take over the farm. Johan and Betsie have 3 sons and 1 daughter. In 1989, son Joop marries Linda. They continue the business. Joop and Linda have two children. Twan (1994) and Kim (1996).
